Emergency Dental Care in Boulder

What is a dental emergency?

A dental emergency is often one of two things:

  • An accident or trauma. A tooth can be displaced, broken, or knocked out.

  • An infection

Dr. Sam lives here in South Boulder, she keeps time in her schedule to address emergency dental needs and is available by phone 720-441-2974 should an incident occur during non-standard hours.

  • Stay Calm

If you stay calm, they will stay calm. It’s natural to feel anxious. Try to keep a clear head, try not to panic and figure out your next steps.

What to do if your child knocks out an adult tooth:

If your child knocks out an adult tooth and are otherwise uninjured, the best thing you can do is gently pick up the tooth by the crown, rinse gently, replace it back in the socket and head straight over. If you can’t put it where it belongs, place the tooth in milk and call us immediately 720-441-2974.

What to do if your child chips or breaks a part of their tooth:

If your child breaks off a piece of their tooth, try to locate the fragment that is missing. Control any bleeding that may occur with a clean gauze and place any fragment you have in milk. Call our office 720-441-2974 and tell us what happened. Bring any pieces of tooth you have in with you when you come in to see Dr. Sam.

What if your child has a tooth loose that was not before:

Baby teeth become loose in a typical order known well by Dr. Sam. After an accident, if a tooth is loose which was not before, call our office 720-441-2974. If your child is an established patient, there is a good chance we will know whether that loose tooth is due to the trauma and requires care or part of the natural process.
